Marketing Doesn’t Need To Be Boring

Traditional marketing methods, such as cold calling and mailing out flyers, are still used by businesses today. These mechanisms can make marketing seem stuffy and mundane, but marketing doesn’t need to be boring! It just takes some effort to think outside the box. Think about it this way: you want to give your customers an exciting way to experience your brand. Here are some tips to spark your inspiration:

  • Target the right audience. You don’t have to appeal to everyone, and in fact that shouldn’t be your goal. Identify the people most likely to buy the product or service you’re selling. Start by asking your current customers for feedback. You could even put out a survey to acquire the characteristics of your customer base. These demographics will help you dive into the persona of your customers and build a profile for your target audience.
  • Try new forms of marketing and new types of content. Marketing goes hand in hand with technology. To stay current with the trends in marketing, look to the latest technologies. From virtual reality to shoppable social media posts, there’s always a new and exciting way to show off your products or services.
  • Produce high-quality content. Some businesses take content for granted. It’s best to focus on quality over quantity. Good content will engage your customers and educate them not only on best practices in your field but also on the products or services your business offers.
  • Think visually. Use your website and social media to your advantage with visual marketing. Make your posts pop with colorful and intriguing images, gifs, memes, and videos. These elements make your business more human and relatable. Be sure to update your content and assets often to keep things fresh and stylish.
  • Check out what the competition is doing. If you see any trends being used in your field of business, aim to put a new spin on them. Sometimes the best thing you can do is reject conformity in order to stand out. In some cases, it’s the nature of the business or the product itself that seems uninspiring, but you can make a boring product interesting with the right marketing strategy.
  • Tell a story. Mold your marketing campaign into a narrative to grab peoples’ attention. People can identify more with a story than with insincere or forced advertisements. Emotion and empathy are genuine ways to connect with people and get them excited about your brand.
